Vyshyvanka is a national symbol of Ukraine. We honor the traditions of our motherland and celebrate this holiday annually. Discover how we celebrated Vyshyvanka Day 2020 in remote mode!
Ukrainian ethnic clothing — vyshyvanka — is one of the oldest Ukrainian attributes. It preserves our history and makes us remember our roots. Each embroidery pattern is unique. It presents a particular region, in which the vyshyvanka was made. Vivid and multi-colored — these ornaments survived the centuries and got a new life. We are lucky to have them today.
On May 21st, Daxxers proudly put their vyshyvankas on. Due to the quarantine, they celebrated Vyshyvanka Day 2020 from homes. But that didn’t spoil that festive day. We had a bright online celebration!
We launched a flashmob #vyshyvankaday_daxx on social media. Daxxers wore their favorite vyshyvankas and took a photo of their festive looks — with families, in nature, or with pets. So warm and beautiful!
Thank you to all Daxxers from different locations who shared their lovely photos in vyshyvankas. You guys made that day special and memorable!
Meanwhile, Vyshyvanka Day 2020 flashmob found its three proud winners. As a reward, each of them received a prize for active involvement. Here they are!
- Tamara Tiorlo (Daxx Lviv) — a scratch map “Travel Ukraine” that encourages everyone to explore the motherland.
- Mykhailo Danylov (Daxx Kharkiv) — a book “Awesome Ukraine” that unlocks a lot of interesting facts about the country.
- Anton Osypa (Daxx Kyiv) — a trendy T-shirt “Shevchenko’s Quantum Jump” that portrays a national poet in a modern way.
This year’s celebration was not typical but it showed us that we create a holiday mood by ourselves. Thank you to the team for being so open, active, and engaged. We appreciate this a lot!
